We were all sitting around our newly lit and decorated Christmas tree--full of metal and colorful plastic cookie cutters, plus two wreath ornaments from school last year, that the children hung themselves after helping string the lights--singing songs, all the usual standards. Most of the religious ones, actually, because Sis likes to hear about baby Jesus and Mary. Bud had a children's book open like a hymnal and sang right along--he knows all of "Little Drummer Boy" and "Jingle Bells." Sis did too. And towards the end of the carol sing, she began to earnestly, sweetly, sincerely croon "Jesus" along with the song we were singing.
And then she changed the word. To "ox."
I think she would've worked her way through the nativity if bedtime hadn't beckoned.
