Live Blogging the Blizzard: Of Angels and Ice Cream

For once the truism didn't hold: we were outside in the snow longer than it took us to get dressed!

But the getting dressed is quite a process--layers of clothes with snow pants on top, with boots tightened on, and snow pants cuff pulled down, then mittens tucked into coat sleeves or coat sleeves velcroed closed over mittens, plus hats pulled down over heads with hoodies put up over them. And I had a scarf! But no snow pants. And Mama didn't have good mittens. It was our first run at snow this year and we have a bit more prep.

We got outside and it was deep. So deep, we couldn't see my giant stockpot anywhere in the snow. Officially we have around 10". But I'm guessing, with drifts, it was 15"+ in places. And it's still snowing. The kids tromped around, marveling at it all, planning all sorts of activities. Bud went down a snowy slide. Sis hopped on a snowy swing. Snowballs were thrown. Snow angels were made, at the end of course, because you always get wet. Bud even kept telling us to stop throwing snow on him while he made his, not realizing it was the snow still falling.

There is now snow all over porch, melting into puddles, clothes and boots and accessories strewn everywhere. But we are warm inside, except for the eating of Snow Ice Cream, followed by warming Hot Chocolate.

And plans for our next venture outside . . . .
