The Quiet Game

No, not that one.

We have a new dinnertime game: taking turns, each person mouths a word that he or she is thinking of and then everyone tries to guess what it is, asking for clues. Most of the time, the kiddos never really mouth a word, so the hints are paramount. It's basically "20 Questions" without the requirement of yes-no answers. Sis and Bud came up with it themselves and call it the "quiet game," mainly because you say the word quietly (and they don't know the other game by that name). It's fun. And they're good at guessing the word based on the hints, though sometimes they both fall back on old standards. Sis does "Amy the Bunny" (hint: "something I sleep with") and Bud does either "bow and arrow" or "spear" (hint: "something Denahi used) every time. Guesses are often pretty standard, with Mama, Gommie, Pop, Albus, and Hermione suggested everytime. Tonight we actually branched out into places, in addition to people and things, which got us past the food on the table and the people in our families.

If only they'd remember to swallow before their turns!
