It's Cookie-Swap Time

It's November so it must be Christmas. At least in the stores. Gone are the days when Christmas started at Thanksgiving. I actually saw Christmas holiday displays out before Halloween! That's just not right, somehow.

But I confess to buying a few things today, namely some penguin cups to replace the kids' deteriorating water cups. And a book by Wilton about Cookie Exchanges. I have long wanted to host a holiday cookie swap--I read about them, get a cookie exchange email newsletter, and watch the cookie swap specials on Foodtv. I participated in one or two during my mommy club days and tried to host one a few years ago, but in all those instances few people were game to play along. Luckily, there's always been my church's holiday cookie bake sale for which I can try out new recipes and also taste my co-congregant's creations. Just, there are no recipes involved in the cookie bake sale. And recipes are one of my favorite parts.

I'm hoping I'm getting started early enough this year to save a date and generate some interest in a cookie swap. If not, maybe we can do one virtually on our blogs . . . .
