. . . that people are so scared? shy? worried? ill-mannered? about talking to other people that they would rather hang up when they call the wrong number than just quickly apologize? I've had two hang-ups today. And I just don't get it. Not the wrong number, that happens, but the hurried slam of the other receiver (well, it used to be a slam; now it's probably just the hurried push of some button!).
We have the same thing on this side if the Atlantic and my belief is that the caller wants to speak to a man about say woodworking tools and is not interested in a female voice...OK gender stereotyping...but you get the message.
