Our thoughts and prayers are with a colleague of Mama's whose whole family is there, as well as a congregant at our church with family there. My minister has offered up this prayer (in this modern age, like my blog, via email):
Holy and gracious spirit of light and love surround us as we struggle with fear and uncertainty, as the layers of rubble are lifted and sorted through in Haiti and in our own souls. Give us the strength to keep moving forward as we wonder at the horrors that are being witnessed by all those in Port-au-Prince, and around the world as video circulates, help us all to be strong enough to reach out with tender loving kindness to the witnesses of this devastation, that they may see a vision of hope in the loving hands of strangers as they move forward into what must seem the most unreal and uncertain future that stands before them. Let this crisis remind us that everyday there are people in need both near and far and when we are able we must offer a loving hand of support and encouragement...Amen and Blessed Be..
