Better Now
I had written a long post, entitled "Feelin' Wimpy," which appeared on this blog for about half an hour and outlined my feelings of being overwhelmed with sick kids and side projects. And then I decided that instead of blogging, I should go meditate. I'm still at counting breaths, for about 5 minutes or so at a time. And it really is amazing how much it calms me down, centers me, so to speak. So that even after just a handful of minutes, I saw how much I was attached to and indulging in (even enjoying?) those negative feelings--for attention? dramatic effect? catharsis? Whatever, it isn't always healthy to dwell, become hyperbolic, and ride the time of high emotion. What did that article about teenage girls who dwell on their problems call it? Ah, "co-rumination." In this instance, and probably all similar ones, meditating is better than blogging (though blogging is obviously good for something, like keeping track of articles and ideas!). And so I won't be re-publishing that post.
