One of the benefits of not watching broadcast television or subscribing to a daily paper is that I have absolute control over the information Bud and Sis have gleaned about the earthquake in Haiti. They know there was one, only learning about it about a week later so that they would understand all the adult references to the tragedy. And they know that people were hurt and that the Haitians need help, particularly with food and shelter and medicine. I want their knowledge of the tragedy to be age appropriate (I can't even fathom the death and devastation)--I don't want them to be scared or worried or overwhelmed. But I do want them to help, so I found today's post at Motherlode extremely useful and inspiring and will think on what we can do as a family.
