The Grossest Thing About Parenting

We all have our boundaries regarding the gross and icky, past which we comfortably dare not go.  For some it's vomit, or diarrhea, or snot.  Not me.  Now, none of those are my favorite things, but it doesn't ruin my day.  Want to know what grossest me out most about parenting?  Wet food.
Oh, ugh.
And today, Bud was dipping his ham sandwich in his water glass and sucking the water off it.
I could've puked.
I did take away his water glass.  Because it's my only totally arbitrary house rule:  no food in water.  That means no putting food in your cup and no pouring water from your cup on your plate.  I even long delayed moving to lidless cups so I wouldn't have to see the backwash.  I still can't look when I wash out their glasses, which go in the sink immediately after meals.  And I throughly scrape plates before washing.
I just can't bear it.  I've never been able to stand it.  Worse than nails on a chalkboard or whatever else really bothers other people.  This really bothers me.  I'm not even sure I can write anymore.  It's just the grossest thing about parenting for me.
I might just have to go buy some more cups with lids.
