Advent: On the First Day

Yes, I know, the twelve days of Christmas actually occur after Christmas and run to Twelfth Night in January when the Wise Men finally showed up.  But I'm going to be counting the 25 days of Christmas, my own blog advent calendar so to speak.

Today's holiday theme is a little one:  I started Mama's stocking this evening.  I had crocheted red and green stockings for the kiddos two years ago but had never gotten to mine or Mama's.  Now, no worries, we have other stockings, but I want a family set.  And I had bought the yarn back then.  I even relocated the pattern, realizing though as I started that I hadn't followed it precisely.  And my technique as a crocheter has changed, tightened, somewhat.  So, the stockings will be similar but not exactly the same.  Besides, Mama's is this great slate blue and my is a dark, dusty rose, all in Lion Brand's Wool Ease.  Once I finish the stockings--and I do hope to complete them both before Christmas Eve--we'll put the novelty buttons on them that we've been gathering these last two years.  It's a nice gentle way to kick off the holiday season.
