Knit One, Save One

Gwyneth Paltrow is doing it. Rebecca Romijn is doing it. So is Debra Messing. And Mischa Barton. Are you?

Save the Children is sponsoring its now-annual caps for children campaign, Survive to 5: Knit One, Save One. Every year, in developing countries around the world, nearly 4 million babies die from preventable and treatable diseases. This campaign seeks to raise awareness and aid for those babies by providing millions of caps to keep them warm and healthy in their critical first hours of life.

I participated last year, or was it two years ago, crocheting several caps and teaching women in my local mommy group, too. We sent in a bundle of them and I was even invited to the celebratory "wrap" party at the end (the organization is based in nearby Westport). Anyway, Mama Teacher forwarded me a link about it and asked if I could help her make a cap. We don't have much time until the deadline on December 31, but it'll be fun. If you read this and want to join us, let me know.
