Six More Weeks . . .

That's right, more winter. Which makes sense, because we are expecting snow today. Sis was disappointed in the prognostication, but Mama and I welcome a bit more snow. Bud vacillated. We watched it live both on the computer and scanning a few channels on tv, particularly because they had homework to get the groundhog's prediction. And for the first time, Mama and I, who have watched for years on tv, saw the groundhog talk to the man in the hat who then read the scroll--you could actually see Phil searching the stump for his shadow. And it was there, apparently (despite it being cloudy in Punxsutawney, PA). We're going to try to find out the predictions of the other groundhogs, whom we've read about in our great groundhog book, Groundhog Weather School by Joan Holub (one of many books we have on groundhogs, the prettiest being Lynne Cherry's How Groundhog's Garden Grew)--Staten Island Stan, Sir Walter Wally, and the nutria Pierre C. Shadeaux down in Louisiana! Happy Groundhog Day!
