Here Comes the Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy went to the kids' school today, despite the snow delay, and the kids were enchanted. I arrived as the program was ending, just in time to hear Sis pipe up, "I already brushed my teeth this morning!" and Bud second her with "we always brush our teeth." So proud. Even if it is only partially true--they do brush, defined as touching their toothbrushes to their mouths, twice a day--but some days involve more sucking and chewing than real brushing, especially if I'm not standing right there singing the ABC song twice and doing the brushing for them myself!

Afterwards, the kids insisted on introducing me to the Tooth Fairy, who was large now, they explained, so she could talk to them, but apparently was usually teeny-tiny like fairies are (they know that our Tooth Fairy will come through our fairy door, which is also how Santa got in--he is miniature elf, after all, because our chimney is blocked). She wore a sparkly purple gown ("Mom, did you see her sparkly dress?") and wings in the shape of a big molar ("It's tooth-wings, Mom!"). And she had distributed goody bags of toothbrushes and stickers and brushing charts to everybody. The kids can't wait to brush. And Sis has even instructed me that they "really should floss."

All good.
