Around the House in 80 Feet

Of track, that is (and that's just literary license, of course). The kids used all of their train tracks today to build a giant circular track around the core of the house--from the kitchen, through the living room and playroom, and back to the kitchen (which would seem to be in direct contradiction of the no-toys-in-the-kitchen rule, but all things fly post-Gommie). Then, they played an odd combo of Thomas the Tank Engine and the new Disney train show Chuggington, enrolling their Thomas & Co trains in school, just like the "trainees" on Disney. There were teachers, lunch, recess, and lessons, including one on nature and enjoying the countryside. They designed and implemented the track all by themselves and then played for probably another hour or so.

And then, there were "80 feet" of purple streamers (though, considering how many times they wrapped it, this might not actually be hyperbole), also wrapped around the center of the house. For Babysitter's birthday celebration this afternoon. The cats loved it, too, and had to be put in their room to keep them from eating the paper.

It was a very busy day!
