Total health coverage sounds a great idea, it is a great idea. We have had it for about 60 years, during that time the nation appears to me to be healthier but there is an awful amount spent on non-essentials and trying to cover up acts of God. I am thinking at this moment of free contraceptives, breast enlargement for women and reduction for men, cosmetic processes,mainly for women, false testicle for men who have had one removed, countless procedures following road and domestic accidents...the list is endless and the cost enormous, some 20% of our national budget and rising daily. Now all this is supposedly free at the point of delivery, in other words we all pay in weekly and draw out as required, except that big dollops come from general taxation. Some people do not take care of their bodies, some are born mis-shapen and unhealthy. I do not know where to draw the line but there are people who will spend a lot on a super holiday but not a bean on private medical care, they expect me to pick up the tab. The nation needs to be re-

ReplyDeleteOften, it's not the person in charge's (be it a president or the author of a proposal) fault as much as it is the morons in the opposition.
The exception, of course, is when the morons in the opposition are the guys in charge. I'm glad we're past that period, though.
