For instance, today we hung out in bed watching Polar Express for the first time (scaring Bud--he doesn't like when people don't follow the rules and the boy in the movie does all sorts of unsanctioned things--but intriguing Sis, who already has many questions about Santa inconsistencies). Then we played Jedi training (a cross between Star Wars and How to Train Your Dragon--call it "How to Train Your Jedi") while my sourdough starter warmed up. Now there are biscuits in the oven and the kids are playing with their own small pieces of dough, getting flour all over every surface in the kitchen.
But that's what vacation is all about, right? And I'll be able to tell you more about it when they go back to school!
Scott and I love the movie Polar Express. The first time we watched it was with Bill the Christmas before he died. Although it was a sad time (in addition to Bill's condition, Joan was in the hospital with her first round of a-fib and possible heart failure and we would spend the holiday in London), there was something about the movie that was so warm, reassuring, cozy, etc. The song by Josh Groban (sp?) still makes me think of Bill and I about tear up everytime I hear it. :)

ReplyDeleteI'm more aligned with Bud. I worry about things that don't seem safe or smart, such as, "He didn't close the fridge" or "She didn't take the key out of the door." These examples aren't in the movie we're discussing...but these types of things take my focus from where the director wants it to be. In Polar Express, I definitely worried about the safety aspect...which is silly considering a)my age and b)it's so out of the realm of possibility!
