A major storm hit our area this (Thursday) evening at the kiddos' bedtime--rain, wind, hail, tornadic winds. We took the children and cats to the basement and promptly lost power. A tree fell, shearing our house (piercing the siding, ripping off shingles, breaking a basement window) and landing on our cars, both of them--you can't even see mine--while also snaring the power lines. We are all okay. But there is some property damage.
After much help from friends (and you know who you are, eternal thanks to you), we are all safe in a hotel, starting to sift through insurance, quotes, claims, etc etc. We have family coming up from the city tomorrow to help keep the kids in good spirits.
