Adventures in Cooking Our CSA Share: A New Beginning

Tomorrow starts our second year of CSA (community-supported agriculture) adventures! And I am so excited! In fact, I've just been perusing my recent copy of Saveur, which is devoted to food markets around the world. Okay, so we have nothing like those of Bangkok or Paris here, but we can get a great big box of fresh produce once a week. (This week: lettuce, bok choy, radishes, salad turnips, scallions, Asian mix, escarole, basil, plus basil, chive, and parsley plants! Next week, kale, kohlrabi, garlic scapes, eggs, and collards!)

And so this year, I will continue my updates on what we receive and how I cook it, with one major exception: I'm hoping to feature recipes by ingredient, i.e. a post about kale or escarole or garlic scapes or the ubiquitous zucchini (which I'm also growing!). I've been gathering vegetable cookbooks all winter (like some people peruse garden catalogs) and have many new ideas (and even more cookbooks to locate!).

Between our farm box and my new breadmaking skills, plus Mama's burgeoning grill obsession, we're going to be eating pretty well this summer. Stay tuned . . . .
