Making Progress

Well, we're really starting to check off things on our "back-to-school" countdown.

We made a fruit pizza, using frozen pie crust, vanilla and chocolate instant puddings, canned mandarin oranges and pineapple, and some shredded coconut. Actually not too bad for winging it.

We went for a sleepover at Ma and Gong's last weekend.

And we just finished our t-shirt painting project, with new painted shirts for the whole family plus gifts for Gommie and Pop (happy belated birthday!). This is an easy project: in advance, wash simple t-shirts you buy at the craft store (watch color choice--if you want to paint in pink, don't choose a pink shirt); choose a sunny day and take the project outside--doing in the grass or on the driveway works just fine; stuff the shirts with old newspaper; paint with your favorite fabric paint colors (markers catch the fabric and "stagger"; we also use just regular paint, not the "puffy" kind. I've had success with Folk Art Fabric paints and also tried Tulip "soft" paints today); hang up on hangers to dry, preferrably outside; wash 24+ hours later and you're ready to go!

Unfortunately, we won't get to the train museum or aquarium one more time, but are considering some kind of special outing this weekend. And I'm hoping to make ice cream in our ball sometime this week and work on our summer scrapbooks next week.

Now, I'll just have to start the list of things I want to do in the first weeks that the kids are back in school!
