Huzzah for the Vegans!

When my kiddos had food sensitivies their first few years, I--like Dexter's dad in the NYTimes magazine--turned to the vegans for recipes without dairy or eggs. I also looked at all the gluten-free, cassein-free (GF/CF) resources often used in helping people on the autistic spectrum, or the GF sites for those with celiac. I only wish I'd had Babycakes's cookbook at the time because my twins' didn't get a first birthday cake--I couldn't figure out how to make one that was edible with all the substitutions for eggs, dairy, and wheat. But I did have a great friend and baker Miss T who made them a wonderful second birthday cake and lots of other treats besides. It sounds like Dexter is pretty lucky with those chocolate cupcakes, too!
