Shufflin' Off to Buffalo

No, we're not taking a swazu north. Actually, it seems as if Buffalo is coming here, as we stare down the probability of 10-16" of snow tonight and tomorrow. That will be our third major snowstorm in two weeks, which is relatively rare for Connecticut . . . and still all over our yard up to several inches.

Not that I'm complaining. I like snow and all of our activities and traditions accompanying it. I don't mind school being canceled, delayed, or dismissed early. I like that the kids get to grow up with snow--and snowmen and snow angels and snow ice cream and snow days--which even after 18 years of living in snow country (earning my stripes, so to speak, in Chicago in the late 90s, and the NYC blizzard of '96), is still new and novel for me. I love it when Mama opts to stay home, even if it means she has to snow blow and shovel. Sure I do dislike, even fear (and this goes back way before my injury), black ice, slippery walks, and half-frozen slush. But, for the time being, with the excitement of the oncoming storm, then the beauty of the falling snow, followed by the enthusiasm for playing in it, I'm happy that this winter is what old timers say Connecticut used to always be like.
