Of course, in our house the star of the holiday is the Easter Bunny, a kindly female bunny who usually resides in a lovely garden in England (perhaps our very own Lambeth's garden??!!) but spends this one night a year delivering eggs and chocolate bunnies to girls and boys who await her. Adults, too, at least in our house, where Easter is a holiday for everyone, young and old, Buddhist and UU, anyone who embraces spring and renewal and new life and hope.

There is no resident bunny in our garden but a family does live in the field adjacent and makes the odd visit. There was a dawn service a the nearby church of Durley which is about 950 years old, it stands on a hill and my guess is that people were celebrating the spring solstice there well before the church arrived, however there is no hard archaeological evidence saving a yew tree dated at 500 BC.
