Ice Storm Cometh

With a new 1.5" of snow today, we're looking at about half that again in ice tonight and tomorrow. Mama is planning on working from home if need be and the kids have totally forgotten that Wednesday would otherwise be a school day! No one expects there to be school tomorrow and I'll go so far as to say there won't be any on Thursday because it'll be cold and none of the ice will have melted.

So, it's the "new normal." We'll play--Lion King Ninjas who live in submarines and/or a boxcar (I'm serious, we played all of that today, sometimes simultaneously)--bake, eat soup, do some arts and crafts (probably class valentines), practice kung fu, ignore homework, call friends/family to tell them it's a snow day, blog, email, do Legos, watch a movie (not Lion King which we don't have, probably something from Lucas or Miyazaki), read (we're two chapters away from finishing Chocolate Fever and it's either Junie B or Ramona or The Water Horse or The Reluctant Dragon next because the library didn't have the next Boxcar Children book), and just enjoy another day without getting on each other's nerves too much.

I guess it's good practice for the holidays coming up . . . President's Day and then Winter Break . . . because we need a holiday from all of these holidays!

(Note: School now goes to the last week of June and they are taking days off spring break in April. Why not February break, only the bureaucrats know.)
