Out and About
While I'm at home doing my self-study outdoor training for taking Girl Scouts on outings, the kids are actually outdoors with Gommie and Pop. They went to a park and then were headed to the beach. Pop loves the outdoors and was looking forward to exploring with them. Sis got a lot of that at Girl Scout camp and is ready to share her knowledge--where to look for ticks (ears, armpits, socks), how to identify poison ivy ("if it's three, let it be"), how to build an a-frame fire. She did earn an outdoor patch after all. Bud, who did Lego camp, was very excited at doing the outdoor thing. Meanwhile, I'm the armchair traveler, learning to recognize deer ticks, clean latrines, plan meals for a whole troop, and lead hikes on themes like colors or the alphabet. Can't wait til we can all do it together (well, except maybe the latrine part).
