Mosey Mosaics

Yesterday, Sis and Bud spent lots of time decorating paper butterfly cutouts with tiny, shiny stickers, all from a kit. We talked about how it was a mosaic, and so they kept saying they were "mosai-ing," as in "to mosai." Funny how they make up perfectly regular verbs that don't exist (you know, like Junie B. Jones and "stealed" or "runned." It's actually grammatically correct, but the English language isn't.)

We talked about mosaics, how they are made of tesserae and used to decorate floors or walls or even ceilings. I even showed them a bit of mosaic I have, a fragment with red, blue, and white tesserae. They were completely nonplussed and much more interested in their stickered ones, which now adorn our mantle.
