Thank you. The opening ceremony seemed to go well but I switched off during the parade of athletes, just too many of them. That touch when the queen arrived with James Bond was a master stroke, for the rest we shall have to see. Did you know that the quirky distance for the Marathon of 26 miles and 300 yards goes back to the 1908 Olympics when the race was from Windsor to the special Olympic Stadium (The White City) was 26 miles but was extended because the King at the time wanted his children to be able to see the start, hence the extra yards. It is now the only race that has not gone metric. It was held in London that year because no other country wanted the expense, The White City stadium lasted until the year you were here for the Lords trip.
