I've got things simmering in my mind to write but nothing much ready to type in, including thoughts on the Harvest Festival, including a poem I bought, my weaving class, my possible return to reading mystery novels, and a variety of articles in the paper, from the outing of teenagers to happy meals, plus Carrie Fisher's new Broadway show and "Sesame Street" in Ramallah.
More later . . .
Odd you shouold mention the outing of teenagers. This morning I was in the gym and later the swimming pool with a girl of about 20, she later said she is about 16 n half and cannot decide which way to jump. She is due to join the army next spring as an adult (still under 18) her father (now dead) having been a drill sergeant (generally hated and feared by all recruits). She said that some boys had shown an interest in her but had been put off by her father's VERY loud voice. On the other hand girl friends have not been put off so she just wonders, meanwhile she retains her purity. Any suggestions as what I should say to her. We, too, had Harvest Supper last Saturday, all good clean fun and plenty of food. This is a rural area but in fact most people are not employed on the lannd so the gifts for the Harvest Festival yesterday tended to be clearly from the supermarket.
