It is true, thought transference works! I was in Buckingham Palace some 20 years ago and noticed the Queen had Plexiglass covers on all the architraves so that the paint was not worn off by thousands of sticky fingers. Keep an eye open for worn patches and be prepared to recoat the whole strip every 3 or 4 years, much more elegant than a hunk of plastic.
