Read the article, "Marriage Stands Up for Itself," with some interesting observations on fidelity, infidelity, divorce, and marriage over the last few decades and also in light of several recent high-profile affairs. It's not what you might think.
I read the piece in full and carefully. One major item it did not cover is Libido. If the two parties are widely apart on that score then there is, in my opinion, a strong probability that the greater libido will look elsewhere for satisfaction. The lesser libido has to come to terms with that, which for some will be impossible. That is the great thing about 'trial marriages' or 'shacking up together', logically, in time, there will be ideal pairing with not too much distress. There is an old saying 'marry in haste, repent at leisure'
